Sunday's Dose of Good, Strong Sex on Film
Filed Under: Film
This Sunday, Galapagos hosts Cinewhores: Scandalous Sex on the Silver Screen, its monthly film salon dedicated to "classic cinematic portrayals of sex, money, power and the goodness in going bad" with a screening of the 1960 classic The World of Susie Wong, starring Richard Quine. Here's the synopsis, which I love:
Robert Lomax (Quine), tired of working in an office and wanting to be an artist, moves to Hong Kong to try his hand at painting. He finds a cheap hotel and checks in, only to find it's used by prostitutes and their 'dates' who meet in the bar downstairs. He never picks up any of ladies, and so they all want to know more about him. Eventually he does hire one to model for him, but soon falls in love. But, since he's on a limited budget, he can't afford her exclusively, and doesn't want to 'share' her.
Should be a rousing way to close out the weekend. Doors are at 7pm, the film starts at 7:30pm, and tickets are $5. Galapagos is on N 6th in Williamsburg, between Kent and Wythe Aves.
